Waterbrook was one of the first ‘luxury lifestyle’ retirement developments that created a benchmark for this type of development and introduced the concept of resort lifestyle to retirement/seniors living in Sydney. Set on 1.3 hectares of landscaped gardens, the buildings were structured to create a linked series of secluded open spaces, focusing around a decorative watercourse. The ethos of the design was to combine the quality of Waterbrook’s independent living with services and facilities the residents could expect in a boutique hotel. Comprising 72 apartments and luxurious facilities and despite the large mass of the building, its architecture successfully achieved a comfortable fit within the suburban context. The building was awarded by both the Urban Design Institute of Australia and the Master Builders Association (NSW) Australia.
